Kathy Mitchel

In teacher college all the professors tell teacher candidates to make sure that they always stay on "the good side" of the secretary.  We all know that this is usually spoken in jest, but there is no doubt that the person who runs the front office is someone who holds a tremendous amount of responsibility and is the public face of the school.  A good secretary is invaluable and can be a tremendous asset to the school community.  We are extremely blessed at St. Joseph Catholic School to have Kathy Mitchel as our secretary!

This week we celebrate Administrative Professionals Week.  Kathy has done, and continues to do fantastic work on behalf of the entire school community.  She never complains, always has a pleasant smile and kind word to say, and has an attitude that no job is impossible and every task is important.  I cannot tell you the number of times that she has handled problems with ease and completed a variety of simultaneous tasks with an efficiency that often leaves me standing in bewilderment.  As my assistant, I have the fullest confidence in her abilities and the trust to get even the most challenging job done efficiently and on time.

From the youngest preschool student with a bloody nose, to the most veteran parent, Mrs. Mitchel always has a smile and the patience of a saint.  If you have the opportunity in the next couple of days, please stop by the office, say hello and thank Kathy for being here with us.  Thank her for taking care of your sick child, for calling you to see how you are doing, or consoling one of my student "clients" after they have been reminded of our rules.  On behalf of us all, thank you Kathy!  You are the best and we are lucky to have you!
