Board of Education News
During the regular meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday evening, the board acted on several items. Among those items included acting officially on the recent resignations of teaching personnel, and adopting a new Costitution for the Faith Formation Commission and the Catholic School Board to align with the recently revised Archdiocesan Policy 8620.1.
Additionally, the Board approved the following:
- A request by Mrs. Paxton to reduce her teaching contract to half-time for the 2010-2011 academic year.
- Adoption of a new social studies curriculum for grades K-8.
- Extending a contract to Mrs. Mary Ann Gensicke for the position of librarian.
- Increasing the contract held by Mrs. Diana Lord to 1.0 FTE to accodomodate the vacated technology position.
The Board will meet again on May 24th in work session to complete the revisions of the Academic Eligibility Policy and the Discipline Policy.
Open Positions
There have been a few inquires into the process and timeline that is being used to fill our current vacant positions. First, as you have just read, our technology position has been filled in house. We have received several applications for our open social studies and music positions. On Tuesday I will be screening applications and asking Mrs. Mitchel to set up interviews the following week. My intention will be to recommend the successful candiates to the Board for hire at the June business meeting.
SCRIP Volunteer Needed
A volunteer is needed to take over the monthly reconciliation of the bank statement for our SCRIP program and the weekly maintenance of the sellers at church. If you are willing to do this job or have questions, please let me know. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Marcia Schmidt for her years of service doing this job! Since her girls will be moving on to high school next year, she would like to become involved in other opportunities.
Lunch Accounts
Just a friendly reminder that all lunch accounts must be paid in full before the end of the school year. Thank you!
