SJW #1, August 19, 2010
Welcome back to school! We are excited to begin the 2010-2011 school year. We look forward to a year of learning about our relationship with God, academics, and how to work respectfully with each other. To begin the school year, our school staff participated in a Collaboration Day at Prairiewoods Franciscan Spirituality Center that prepared us for a year of collegiality and focus on quality Catholic education. Our staff did take time out for a few group photos!
We have had a great start to the school year. We welcomed 168 students back to school and will see several more on September 7/8 when Preschool begins.
I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received. I am extremely happy to be here and look forward to capitalizing on all that St. Joseph Catholic Parish and School has to offer our families and community. Please know that we are here to work in partnership with your family and we take that responsibility very seriously.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Walz

Arrival and Dismissal
Please remember to use the Brockman entrance or the north (closest to the church) 14th Street entrance when using the parking lot for arrival and dismissal. The first morning bell rings at 7:55. At this time, students may enter the school building. The tardy bell is at 8:05. Bus students are dismissed at 2:40. All other students are dismissed in the afternoon at 2:50.
Website
Our St. Joseph Catholic School website is our main means of communicating to you. It is updated and always available to you, day or night. We are currently updating several features and content for the new school year.
Parents, please go to the website and join the 2010-2011 classroom group(s) for your child(ren). To do so, please follow these steps:
- Go to the website, www.sjcsmarion.org
- Login to the website. If you do not have a login, create one on the login page by clicking on "create new account."
- Under "For Current Families" scroll down to "Classroom and Activity Pages."
- At the Classroom and Activity Page you will see a list of groups. Find the group you would like to join and click "join" or "request membership."
- If you are requesting membership, the administrator of the group (the teacher) will need to verify that you are eligible for membership. This is a safety feature.
- For more website help, please see the "Website Help" area under the "For Current Families" menu.
Thank You!
Thank you so much for your prompt attention to registering your student(s) online! If you have not registered, please do so as soon as it's convenient for you. I would like to be able to upload our new demographic information into our student database (Powerschool) so that we have accurate information for our teachers.
Tuition Collection
Just a reminder that we will send home tuition statements the first Thursday of each month with your youngest child. If you have not made a tuition payment yet, please stop in the office at your earliest convenience. We highly encourage you to do the automatic withdrawal (EFT) payment plan. It's quick and easy and no need to mail or drop off your tuition. It is deducted each month on the first or the fifteenth right out of your checking or savings account. If you wish to participate in EFT and have not filled out the paperwork for it, please stop in the office and I will get you the necessary form. We will begin EFT on September 1st. Thank you!
Thank You from Mike Anderson
A big thank you from Mr. Anderson to all the parent volunteers that worked so hard getting the building ready this summer. We couldn't have done it without you!! It was so nice to open the doors on the first day of school with the shiny waxed floors and all the clean windows, lockers and classrooms. We appreciate you donating your time to make our school shine!!
