PowerSchool Login Problems

A message from Grant Wood AEA for all PowerSchool Users:

We have seen several instances where users cannot login to PowerSchool after they have gotten in once successfully. This could be Administrators, Teachers, Parents or Student users. What we are finding is users are saying Yes to the browser’s request to save their password. Each browser, i.e. Firefox, Explorer, Safari, has a setting that will allow users to save passwords in order to save them time in entering a site. This is a dangerous habit to acquire and in the case of PowerSchool, will most likely lock the user out of PowerSchool the second time they attempt to log in if they make that save setting. What happens is the browser actually saves the encrypted expanded password instead of the actual password therefore the next time the user tries to get in, they cannot. If you save your password what you see when you open a site is the login and password fields already filled in for you with a bunch of ●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●●. So, thinking this is your password and you just hit enter. Unfortunately the password is the encrypted one and you cannot get in. You can get into the site if you delete all the ●●●●●●●●●’s and enter your correct login and password. It is important for any PowerSchool user to DO NOT let their browser save the PowerSchool password.  If they have their browser set to save passwords they probably will not be able to log on a second time.If you have users that have set their browser to save passwords and cannot get back into PowerSchool we have attached instructions for MS Explorer and Firefox users to fix the problem.
